Villa Santa Mónica, a 17th-century estate in San Miguel de Allende, was rebuilt by Fray José Guadalupe Mojica in the Spanish Colonial Revival style. Mojica hosted lavish gatherings, attracting renowned artists and celebrities to the property. The villa's guests included Maria Félix, Dolores del Río, John Wayne, and others. Mojica's encounter with two American travellers led to the establishment of Belles Artes and the Instituto Allende. Today, Mojica is recognized as a Distinguished Citizen of San Miguel de Allende, and Villa Santa Mónica operates as a cultural landmark, honouring his legacy.
